How It Works

The NWS wind chill formula: 35.74 + 0.6215T - 35.75V^0.16 + 0.4275TV^0.16 (T in F, V in mph). Valid for temps at or below 50F and wind above 3 mph. Wind strips heat from exposed skin — at 0F with 15 mph wind, frostbite can occur in 30 minutes. Camp in wind-sheltered locations and use wind-blocking layers.
